Abstract

One type of breathing problem that often occurs during sleep is Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). This is caused by relaxation of the throat muscles, which blocks the airway and prevents a normal breathing rhythm. If OSA is not managed adequately, long-term health problems can occur. Therefore, special treatment is needed in the form of therapy using a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) device. Remembering that the CPAP device is not a cheap medical device. For this reason, an innovative CPAP tool is needed at a cheaper price. Through this final project, the team designed a Low Cost Continuous Positive Airway Pressure With Humidifier device as an alternative solution to this problem. This tool works using a 24V DC centrifugal blower as a compressed air producer, MPX5010GP as a pressure sensor, Arduino Uno as a microcontroller, HME filter as a bacteria filter, blower driver as a 24V DC centrifugal blower regulator, and a 20 x 4 LCD display. And this tool does not using supplemental oxygen. The results of the research show that in closed pressure conditions the highest error value was 4.8% at a setting of 11 cmH2O and the smallest error value was 0% at a setting of 20 cmH2O. And when the pressure is given a leak, the highest error value is 8% at a setting of 5 cmH2O and the smallest error value is 0.3% at a setting of 15 cmH2O.
